Richard Nathaniel Wright (4 de septiembre de 1908 - 28 de noviembre de 1960) fue un escritor estadounidense de novela, relato, poesía y ensayo, cuyo trabajo resultó en ocasiones polémico. Gran parte de su literatura hace referencia a temas raciales, especialmente aquellos que se refieren a la difícil situación de los afroamericanos a finales del siglo XIX y en la primera mitad del XX. La crítica literaria considera que su obra ayudó a redefinir los debates sobre las relaciones raciales en Estados Unidos a mediados del siglo XX.
