Andréi Bely o Andréi Bieli (Андрей Белый, en ruso "Andrés Blanco") es el seudónimo de Borís Nikoláyevich Bugáiev (ruso: Борис Николаевич Бугаев; Moscú, 14 de octubrejul./ 26 de octubre de 1880greg. - Moscú, 8 de enero de 1934), novelista, poeta y crítico literario simbolista ruso, considerado por algunos críticos, como Vladímir Nabókov, el autor más importante del siglo XX en lengua rusa.​ Su novela Petersburgo (también traducida como San Petersburgo) es a menudo comparada al Ulysses de Joyce.​ Otras destacadas novelas suyas son La paloma de plata y Yo, Kótik Letáiev. 

Petersburgo narra acontecimientos transcurridos durante el último día de septiembre y varios días de octubre de 1905, entre mítines, huelgas y manifestaciones obreras. Considerada una de las cumbres de la prosa rusa del siglo XX, la presente edición recoge la versión original publicada por la editorial Sirín en 1913-1914, fiel reflejo del innovador espíritu literario que impregnaba a su autor en el momento de su concepción.

Petersburgo, la ciudad, es el verdadero protagonista de esta novela. Concebida y presentada como un espacio geométrico cerrado, configurado entre la Perspectiva Nevski y el Neva, entre las callejuelas grises y los palacios rojizos, aparece como un ser vivo, pensante y sintiente.

Un ser palpitante sobre el que aparecen los personajes como títeres atormentados y grotescos, y que atraviesan dos misterioso fantasmas: el Jinete de Bronce (la estatua de Pedro I, símbolo del poder paternalista y opresor, concebido como alma de la ciudad y del poder por Pushkin, pero todavía hoy emblema de la ciudad) y el Holandés Errante, que es el Neva, y el puerto y lo Otro.

Un desfile que se va transformando mediante el extraordinario uso de la sintaxis y merced a la significación otorgada a ciertos símbolos, como el color (rojo y negro, sobre el gris de la niebla, el azul del Neva, el verde grisáceo del mar, el bermellón de los palacios, el bronce de la fiebre#), en uno de los sueños más subyugantes que jamás haya dado la literatura.

本書は、2022年2月に英国で刊行されたアフガニスタンの女性作家18名による23の短篇集My Pen Is the Wing of a Bird: New Fiction by Afghan Women の邦訳版です。紛争地域の作家育成プロジェクト〈UNTOLD〉による企画編集で、3年前からイギリスとアフガニスタンでやりとりをしながら、「小説を描きたい」という女性たちを広く募り、一冊へとまとめ上げました。アフガニスタンでは2021年夏にタリバンが政権を奪還し、女性への抑圧も急激に強くなりました。女生徒たちは教育の機会を奪われたまま、女性は全身を覆うブルカの着用を義務づけられ、単独での遠出を禁じられるという、21世紀とは思えない状況が続いています。そのような中で、本書の著者のうち数名は、身の安全のため国外への避難を余儀なくされています。
ここに集められた短篇は、死や暴力、激しい女性憎悪や差別と隣り合わせの重い日常を描いたものも少なくありません。また日本に暮らす私たちとは価値観も異なり、簡単には理解出来ないこともあります。

UNTOLD is a writer development programme for marginalised writers in areas of conflict and post-conflict. Afghanistan has millions of Pashto and Dari speakers with little or no local support for creative writing, literary translation, or literary editing. Support for writers has been hampered by cultural norms, free expression issues, chronic instability, and internal displacement. UNTOLD has been working one-to-one with women on their short stories, with English-speaking literary editors and translators working with the writers to realise the potential of their stories for publication both locally and globally in translation.
