Nobel Week Is Coming Up
2016 Nobel Prize Award Ceremonies
The new Nobel Laureates take center stage on 10 December in Stockholm and Oslo, where the 11 Laureates will receive their Nobel Prizes, and enjoy the Nobel Banquets afterwards. Nobelprize.org provides live-streams from the Nobel Lectures and the award ceremonies, as well as photos and interviews with the Laureates. The activities start on 6 December - also on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The Nobel Week Starts
Since 1901, the Nobel Prizes have been presented to the Laureates at ceremonies. The Laureates come from different parts of the world to Stockholm or Oslo to collect their prizes. This old video clip shows poet W.B. Yeats arriving at the Central Station in Stockholm in December 1923.

What Do the Laureates Receive?
At the award ceremony the Swedish King hands each Laureate a diploma, a medal and a document confirming the Nobel Prize amount. In 1901, the amount was 150,782 Swedish krona per unshared prize, for 2016 it is 8 million SEK. But can money buy us happiness? Here, Angus Deaton, 2015 Laureate in Economic Sciences, gives his answer to the age-old question.
