潜水艦イ-57降伏せず パルマ島(カナリア諸島)沖 La Palma (islas Canarias) 当たって砕けろだ Inténtalo sin miedo

1945年（昭和20年）6月、太平洋戦争にて敗戦濃厚となった大日本帝国海軍において最前線に従軍していた潜水艦「イ-57」は突如ペナンに寄港を命ぜられ、某国の外交官父娘を中立国であるスペイン領カナリア諸島まで輸送する任務を負います。この外交官は早期講和を目指す大本営の秘密工作であり、艦長以下の反対も派遣された参謀の説得により収まります。しかし外交官父娘の正体は一般乗組員には知らされないままでした。「イ-57」はアフリカ沖目指してインド洋を潜行していきます。途中、敵の駆逐艦による攻撃などにも耐えようやく喜望峰沖まで達した時、連合国はポツダム宣言を発表し「イ-57」の航海は全くの無意味となりましたが...。

In World War II, the commanding officer of a sub, against his will takes on board two Western diplomats, to take them to the Canaries and arrange an armistice. When they get there, peace has been declared, but the sub's crew don't know as their radio has failed. They send their passengers ashore and go out to face a final battle.
