『東京物語』(小津安二郎監督、笠智衆主演)が1953年(昭和28年)の今日、文化の日・11月3日に松竹の配給で公開されました。昭和28年度文化庁芸術祭参加作品です。
『東京物語』は、BBC「21世紀に残したい映画100本」に、『西鶴一代女』（溝口健二監督、1952年）、『椿三十郎』（黒澤明監督、1962年）などと共に選出されました。
『東京物語』は、また、ニューヨーク近代美術館に収蔵されています。
Cuentos de Tokio es una película japonesa dirigida el año 1953 por Ozu Yasujirō.
Cuentos de Tokio narra la historia de unos padres ancianos, originarios de Onomichi, que visitan a sus hijos residentes en Tokio. Los primeros, provenientes del Japón rural, son rechazados en cierta medida por sus hijos. La humanidad evoluciona tan rápidamente que entre las generaciones se origina un abismo que las mantiene incomunicadas entre sí.
Tokyo Story (東京物語 Tōkyō Monogatari) is a 1953 Japanese film directed by Ozu Yasujirō. It tells the story of an aging couple who travel to Tokyo to visit their grown children. The film contrasts the behavior of their children, who are too busy to pay them much attention, and their widowed daughter-in-law, who treats them with kindness. It is often regarded as Ozu's masterpiece, and has appeared several times in the British Film Institute lists of the greatest films ever made.
