Feliciano López ha tardado bien poco en mostrar su malestar en Twitter por la eliminación de Madrid en la primera ronda de votación para decidir la sede de los Juegos Olímpicos de 2020.
"Vergonzosa decision del COI que demuestra una vez mas que ese organismo no juega limpio y que priman todos los intereses menos el deportivo", escribió el toledano en su cuenta.
Pocos minutos después, Feliciano escribía un segundo tweet: "Quiero creer que la corrupcion,sit economica y Operacion Puerto han sido claves para que estemos fuera de la final.X lo demas no se entiende".
Su compañero de Copa Davis Nico Almagro se mostraba igual de duro, aunque en su caso sus críticas apuntaban hacia otro lado: "Nos han vendido que teniamos los JJOO desde hace un mes,q si 50 votos ya estan q si fue q si vino,basta ya de corrupcion,q nos vean fuera... Como somos,gente q solo quiere trabajar para superarse cada dia no como ciertos personajes q hacen otro tipo de cosas bastante mas feas...".
Más conciliador se mostraba el jugador de balonmano y doble campeón mundial Albert Rocas en la misma red social: "Triste por nuestro deporte y por toda la gente que ha trabajado para conseguir @Madrid2020ES #animo".
En la misma línea se expresaba el ex jugador del Real Madrid Guti: "Q tristeza,un palo muy duro y no solo para Madrid,para España entera".
Concisa y contundente era la marchista gallega Lorena Luaces: "Se me ha encogido en el corazón con @Madrid2020ES".
Otro marchador, el veterano Chuso García Bragado, se mostraba igualmente desilusionado: "Hace aprox un año un amigo que trabaja en la candidatura de Rio2016 me dijo que el COI iba a lo seguro para el 2020. Lamentablemente acertó".
Pau Gasol, que ha participado activamente en la defensa del proyecto, daba las gracias por el esfuerzo realizado: "Gracias a tod@s los que habéis apoyado a @Madrid2020ES . Me quedo con la ilusión y el compromiso que hemos demostrado como un gran equipo".
Los lamentos llegaban también al mundo de la política. "Lo siento mucho. Madrid había trabajado mucho y bien para conseguirlo", ha escrito el secretario general del PSOE, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, en Twitter.
La vicepresidenta del Gobierno, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, tampoco era ajena al varapalo: "Se nos ha escapado un sueño pero estamos muy orgullosos de cómo el espíritu olímpico nos une a todos".
David Cal (canoeing): "It's a huge disappointment; Madrid deserved it. It was the third time we were in the running and we had a solid project. I honestly thought we would be chosen this time," said Spain's most decorated Olympic medallist.
Javier Gómez Noya (triathlon): "It's a shame, because everyone was really excited. However, we athletes have to keep working as normal and preparing for the Games just the same," said the two-time world champion.
Jorge Dueñas (handball): "It's a massive disappointment. I expected us to be in there to the end and for the fight to be with Tokyo. I'm crushed; I'm just so surprised," said the women's coach.
Feliciano López (tennis): "Shameful decision by the IOC which proves once again that this body does not play clean and all other interests take precedence over sport," wrote the tennis player on his Twitter account.
Samuel Sánchez (cycling): "When you work flat out to achieve an objective, victory is not guaranteed, but I'm proud to have formed part of such a great project. We have to get back on our feet and keep fighting," said the Beijing Olympic champion.
Lorena Miranda (water polo): "People were really excited. This is the third time and is a blow for everyone. I thought this was it," declared the Olympic silver medallist in London.
Jennifer Pareja (water polo): "There's not much to say. We didn't expect that tie down there. We were brimming with optimism, but with our feet on the ground. But we didn't expect this. We're stunned; we don't even know what to say," said the captain of the Spanish women's water polo team.
